Stan Lee had already filmed his Avengers 4 cameo before he sadly died yesterday.

The legendary comic book writer was responsible for the creation or co-creation of many Marvel superheroes, such as Black Panther, Spider-Man and the X-Men.

Lee died at the age of 95 on November 12 in Los Angeles, but he will continue to live on through all of his creations as well as through his cameo in the upcoming Avengers 4 movie.

The Marvel Comics editor made a tradition out of appearing in the superhero movies, and he often filmed cameos for different films at the same time.

In an interview with BBC Radio ScotlandAvengers: Infinity War directors The Russo Brothers explained:

[Lee]’s the godfather of a lot of these stories, him and Jack Kirby. So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time.

So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance Ant-Man [and the Wasp] or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and get him through his cameos in one day.

Lee made his latest cameo in Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was released in July, 2018. As the Russos explain, Ant-Man was filming around the same time as Avengers 4, making it easy for Lee to film his cameos for both films at the same time.

According to ComicBook, the Russo Brothers also indicated Lee would be making appearances in Marvel movies ‘well into 2019’.

It’s not been confirmed whether Lee will appear in Captain Marvel, which is set to be released in March 2019, but it’s possible he filmed another cameo at the same time as his Ant-Man and Avengers scenes.

The Russo Brothers added how Lee was always a delight to have around saying:

He’s great. He’s a blast to have on set and everybody loves it. And he seems to engender a really warm response from the audience when he comes on the screen.

Following the news of his death, the pair tweeted a tribute to the legendary man, writing:

Thank you for filling our childhoods with such joy. You will be dearly, dearly missed…

Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, also honoured Lee in a post, writing:

No one has had more of an impact on my career and everything we do at Marvel Studios than Stan Lee. Stan leaves an extraordinary legacy that will outlive us all.

Our thoughts are with his daughter, his family, and his millions of fans. #ThankYouStan #Excelsior!

Fans will be able to look forward to seeing Lee at home among his superheroes in the upcoming Avengers film.

Rest in peace, Stan Lee.

Avengers 4 is set for release in the UK on April 26 next year.
