September is upon us, which can only mean one thing: people grumbling while being secretly pleased by the tinselly, sparkly Christmas growth about to sprout up in supermarkets nationwide.

I was in a pub the other week where a table had been dressed up all spangly to advertise Christmas dinner bookings and to infuriate local Scrooges simultaneously.

Of course, I tutted along willingly with the rest of them. However, I was twinkling like fairy lights on the inside. Christmas was coming and I was sorely tempted to whack on It’s A Wonderful Life and bake myself some wonky mince pies.

And – hear me out – it’s high time we started checking out advent calendars. Seriously, those things fly off the shelf like Rudolph and you don’t want to be left with the pudding crumbs.

Luckily, B&M bargains are on it once again this year. We’ve scarcely packed away our paddling pools and they’re whacking out the Reese’s advent calendars. Shoppers can pick one up for £4.99 right now, as long as they trust themselves to behave until December 1.

The early robin bargain was spotted by the ever eagle-eyed Extreme Couponing & Bargains UK, and prematurely excited Christmas fans have been cheered by this early sprinkling of Christmas spirit.

These were selling like hot cakes in B&M in the Hemel Hempstead store on Saturday. I stocked up and brought four.

Another Hungry Horace announced:

Would need three since its only September (one for October, one for November oh and yes one for actual advent in December).

The very same calendars were sold last year at B&M’s for the same reasonable price; providing 23.9g individually wrapped peanut butter cup miniatures behind every window, with one 42g Reeses White Peanut Butter 2 Cup behind window No.24 as an extra big treat for Christmas Eve.

Although last year the calendars were sold at stores such as Lidl, Poundworld, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Wilko’s. However, this year they’re reportedly being sold exclusively at B&M’s.

It’s seems B&M’s really are gearing up for the season of sugar, with shoppers also spotting festive themed Jelly Tots, Haribo boxes and Drumstick Squashies in the aisles.

Is that sleigh bells I hear, or merely the sound of B&M tills ringing as shoppers make false promises to themselves that they will be organised this year?

B&M Bargains are not the first shop to be getting seasonal while our freezers are still packed with ice lollies.

Aldi have announced the much hyped return of their wine advent calendar, which will be all ready to sip as of the much more wintery November 4.

Meanwhile, the likes of Sleeks and Nyx have already unveiled the beauty calendars many girlfriends will be coveting by the time office party season rolls around.

I wish you all a very merry pre-Christmas moan about the holly emblazoned produce about to blast into every single supermarket as soon as the first leaf falls…
