We’ve always quite fancied a beer with our Whopper meal and it looks like our dreams may be about to come true.

Burger King have launched a bid to become the first fast food chain in the UK to serve alcohol in their restaurants.

The burger joint hopes that from next month, four branches will serve plastic bottles of cool, refreshing American beer to accompany food orders.

If the drinks licences are approved, lucky residents of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Blackpool, Hull and Bury St Edmunds will be able to enjoy a beer and burger. Road trip, anyone?

If the endeavour proves a success, BK will look to roll out their boozy idea nationwide.

And the reason behind the decision is pretty simple.

Speaking to the Mail Online, a spokesman said:

We’re just catching up with the rest of the world really.

Unfortunately, McDonald’s say they don’t have any plans to follow suit and serve alcoholic drinks, which means you can’t have a beer with your Big Mac just yet!
