McDonald’s as gourmet food?
It sounds pretty bonkers, yet that’s exactly what one creative chef managed to turn the beloved fast food into.
In a quite brilliant display of his culinary talents, chef Neal Fraser succeeded in convincing 40 food ‘experts’ that the grub he served up was actually gourmet cuisine.

According to the i100, Fraser laid on the dinner at a fancy villa in Southern California, telling his guests he’d be cooking with “experimental” ingredients.
The experimental ingredients? Oh, just some greasy fast food from his local Maccy D’s.
His tasting menu consisted of chilled avocado soup, buttermilk dressed romaine salad with bacon bits, as well as chicken wrapped in more bacon.
It sounds and look delicious. Hard to believe this was made with Big Macs and Egg McMuffins.
Writing about the event on Instagram, blogger Sharon Wu said:
Channelled my inner foodie and did some food tasting today. We were invited to a fancy 5-course meal courtesy of award-winning #chef Neal Fraser only to find out afterwards that all ingredients used to make them were straight from McDonalds… Who would have known? It was a crazy experience.
According to OC Register, the whole thing was likely part of a marketing campaign from McDonald’s, with the whole event being filmed and local restaurant managers watching the scene unfold from a “live feed in another room.”
To be honest, we’d love to try all of this for ourselves.
