Each year we look forward to seeing what festive fun brands have ready for us when they release their Christmas adverts to the world.
As companies attempt to outdo each other to have the biggest and most fabulous festive advert, the British nation is unable to escape from the various Santas, reindeers and adorable children that take over our screens.
While the likes of John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Boots normally top the list of the best Christmas adverts, this year it appears McDonald’s are king with their charming ad.
You can watch it here:
As Father Christmas and his team of reindeers deliver presents to sleeping children on a chilly Christmas Eve, he tucks into some delicious mince pies which have been left out for him.
Sadly though with no carrots in sight Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen are left with rumbly tummies thanks to the lack of treats.
But spotting the golden arches glowing, Santa heads to a nearby McDonald’s where he sneakily stocks up on bags of carrots.
Smelling the treats in Santa’s sack of presents, Rudolph and the reindeers are delighted when he wishes them a ‘Happy Christmas’ and they are left happily munching away.
Leaving me beaming, I expect it will even warm the most stone hearted of us.
People on Twitter and social media were certainly impressed:

In a press release, Ben Fox, the Marketing Director at McDonald’s, was very excited for the advert to be released.
He said:
Our new Reindeer Ready campaign aims to remind customers that we are there when they need us at this time of year – from a Christmas shopping coffee break to a pre-party burger or even a mid-present delivery carrot stop.
From TV to OOH, social to in-store, we will make sure there is a little reindeer magic for everyone this Christmas.
In fact if you fancy picking up a free bag of ‘Reindeer Treats’ yourself, all you have to do is pop into your local McDonald’s on Christmas Eve and ask at the counter.
Leo Burnett London, who created the advert, added that it will run alongside a series of giveaways, ‘magical digital experiences’ and of course a festive menu.
Their Chief Creative Officer, Chaka Sobhani, said:
After last year, we wanted to build even more fun ways to help get the country Reindeer Ready. With a unique and playful Snapchat lens and filters, an exclusive reindeer e-book, Christmas jumper giveaways, Festive branded carrots and the magical story of Father Christmas and his Reindeer, we hope this year’s McDonald’s campaign warms the hearts of the nation and captures a bit of the magical anticipation of Christmas.
The full 90 seconds trailer launched yesterday (November 18). Keep an eye out for the full-length version as well as shorter cuts across the next six weeks.
What do you think of the McDonald’s Christmas advert? Is it better than John Lewis’ Elton John advert which has been called ‘the worst one yet‘ by some?
