A group of guys claiming to be food bloggers have been shot down following their highly offensive post about a burger joint in Melbourne.
The boys at food blog BunDay Burgers managed to be offensive on a number of levels, littering their review of Ike’s Rack Shack with both casual racism and homophobia. Australian blog Brown Cardigan captured BunDay Burgers Instagram post and the serious backlash it received from the restaurant’s owners before they took it down.
Owner of Ike’s, Dave Kerr, responded to the bigoted post using the the restaurant’s own Instagram account:
Bit of casual racism and a dash of homophobia. We very rarely respond in this way, but seriously lads take your politically incorrect bullshit elsewhere and untag. Politely go fuck yourselves. And have some respect. You’re grown ups that live in a metropolitan city … Pull your collective heads in idiots.
In a second attack on BunDay Burgers the still fuming Kerr wrote:
Look forward to you guys returning so we can serve you up a bag of fried dicks with some racist mayonnaise and some lesbian hating kosher salt.
According to Mashable Australia the group tried to escape detection by changing their handle 12 hours after Kerr schooled them and their initial flippant response was to offer him a t-shirt for $35. However, after the incident was picked up by Brown Cardigan, they then attempted to apologise.
When asked about his ‘colourful’ use of language, Kerr said he stands behind it:
It was an impassioned response by me, hence it had no real forethought and that’s why it’s pretty colourful. It struck a nerve with me and I just fought fire with fire. Everybody slips up and says stupid stuff, but it’s 2015 and that stuff just shouldn’t be in your vocabulary if you want to live in an advanced, multicultural city like Melbourne.
We couldn’t agree more, maybe they’ll think twice before speaking out like bigoted pricks again.
