Over the years we’ve started to become a lot more health conscious with our diets.
Before it seemed we didn’t care about what we put in our gobs, but in recent times we’ve become increasingly aware of the calories we eat on a daily basis.
In response, fast-food giants like McDonald’s have tried to introduce new ‘healthier’ options for those of us who are trying not to pile on the pounds.
The health kick was part of their boss’s plans to turn the chain into a ‘modern, progressive burger company’ – or in layman’s terms, as hipster as possible.
So it was only a matter of time before they started adding kale to fucking everything. One problem though: some of these so-called healthy options are worse for you than their burgers.
Across the Atlantic, a new report from CBC News revealed that McDonald’s kale Caesar salad is actually more unhealthy than a Double Big Mac.
The kale bit is fine, obviously, but when it comes with crispy bacon (because no salad is complete without this), parmesan petals and roasted garlic croutons the calories mount up.
There is also the choice of having crispy chicken or grilled breast with a Caesar dressing on top – which is believed to be a staggering 200 calories on its own.
In total it comes in at 730 calories, with 53 grams of fat and 1400 milligrams of salt. Incredibly though, a Double Big Mac has just 680 calories, 38 grams of fat and 1,340 milligrams of salt.
Speaking to CBC News, obesity expert Dr. Yoni Freedhoff says the chain is trying to appeal to consumers’ need to ‘feel like they’re not making such terrible choices.’ He added: “Words like ‘kale’ can help do that.”
Basically, if you’re going to go to McDonald’s you might as well just pig out. Who goes there for a fucking salad anyway?
