Legend has it that breakfast is of course, the most important meal of the day, but according to a recent survey only two thirds of Britons are eating it.
At least a third of people say they sacrifice breakfast for some extra time in bed or to get to work earlier – understandable, especially in the depths of winter.
So it’s hard enough actually eating anything as you desperately rush to get yourself out of the house in the morning, so choosing exactly what to eat to stave off the hunger until you get through to lunch is even rarer.
But, as we’re now halfway through National Breakfast Week we thought it might be a good idea to share with you a few of our favourite breakfast foods.
In no particular order…
Bolied Eggs and Soldiers
Basic but brilliant – the warm runny yolk combined with crisp, buttery soldiers is quick, easy and just delicious.
The Full English
Many would argue this is the ultimate way to start your day, and we’d agree. Providing your entire day’s calories in one indulgent sitting is probably wrong, but definitely efficient.
Porridge
The king of the frugal eater, like it or not porridge is now the cool kid on the breakfast block. With it’s seemingly endless variety of ever more inventive toppings gone are the days when golden syrup or salt were the only acceptable additions to your morning bowl.
The Pancake Stack
For most of us pancakes for breakfast is the stuff of dreams – a life that we aspire to. There’s a reason for this. If you eat pancakes for breakfast there is no way you can be unhappy for the rest of the day.
Steak and Eggs
I know, who on earth has the time or the money to eat steak and eggs for breakfast? The answer – the people who eat steak and eggs for breakfast. Healthy? No. Cost efficient? Definitely no. Do I want it? Oh yeah.
