The President of Iceland recently weighed in on one of the most controversial topics of our time: Pineapple on pizza.

On a recent visit to a high school in Akureyri, Iceland’s second largest city, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson ended his talk by taking questions from students.

Along with demands to know what his favourite football team is (Manchester United), one bold student dared to ask the president his stance on putting pineapple on pizza.

His response? There is definitely no way in hell that he favours the fruit topping.

In fact, he’s so against the union of pineapple pizza lovers that he asserted (albeit jokingly) that he’d ban pineapple on pizza if he was able to make laws on his own.

It’s not clear yet whether Guðni’s approval ratings (which are an impressive 97 per cent) will suffer as a result of his controversial stance.

As for avocado on burgers and whether or not hot dogs are a sandwich? Guðni has yet to comment.
