A Jet2 flight was diverted to Manchester because there was no water on board for tea or coffee.
Flight LS155 was due to travel from Glasgow to Tenerife this morning (February 10), but was redirected to Manchester due to a plumbing issue.
Less than one hour after setting off at 8.55am, the flight landed at Manchester Airport where passengers then had to change planes.
The plane was flying over Cork in the Republic of Ireland when it was redirected.
A spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Record, the reason for the diversion, stating:
There was a technical issue with water on board. There wasn’t water for teas and coffees.
The spokesperson added the flight arrived safely in Manchester, with fire crews being in attendance as a standard precautionary measure.
Passengers were transferred onto another flight being ‘well looked after’.
Many of the passengers on board have taken to social media to criticise the airline for the disruption.
One woman tweeted:
So Jet2 plane from Glasgow to Tenerife had to turn back and emergency land in Manchester because they had no water supply for hot drinks! My arse. Get a better excuse next time.
Forever flying with @Ryanair don’t get this shit. I’ll get to Tenerife yet .
Craig was also dissatisfied writing:
Jet2 Glasgow to Tenerife grounded in Manchester as there’s no running water on board! Please be quick.
Yet one passenger actually praised the staff for all their help writing:
Diverted to Manchester and now on a replacement plane bound to Tenerife. Broken toilets and no running water on the first Jet2 plane apparently. Everyone in good humour and Jet2 crew looking after us a treat.
Jet2 reached out to those complaining on social media, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
