In another example of McDonald’s trying to up its game, the fast-food giant has released a new range of ‘posh’ burgers.

It’s Signature Collection is being trialled in 61 branches, and comes served in a brioche bun.

McDonald’s enlisted the help of top chefs to create the new premium range, which features three new burgers created by McDonald’s food developers in response to the rising popularity of gourmet burger restaurants.

After Five Guys bagged the accolade of the UK’s favourite fast-food restaurant earlier this week – with McDonald’s not even managing to break into the top five – it looks like they are responding to its loss in support.

Though saying that, it is still a favourite among those of us who want something to sober us up on a far too heavy night out.

The premium burgers are available in three flavours – The Classic, The BBQ and The Spicy. The Classic comes with two rashers of Beechwood smoked bacon, a slice of natural cheddar cheese, wholegrain mustard mayo, ketchup, Batavia lettuce and red onion.

While the BBQ has smoky BBQ sauce, coleslaw, red onion, Batavia lettuce, Beechwood smoked bacon and a slice of natural cheddar cheese. And finally the Spicy comes with Jalapeño slices, Pepper Jack cheese, Batavia lettuce, mayo and a spicy relish.

All these burgers come in at £4.69 and a meal including a drink and fries starts from £6.19-  a bit pricier than your average Big Mac meal.

You’ll also have to wait a little bit longer than usual, as the thicker patty will take around six minutes to cook- but it should be worth it though, right? Right!?

Time will only tell if we will all be lovin’ it.
