McDonald’s New Menu Item Is Seriously Dividing Opinion

A new ‘innovative’ and ‘surprisingly unique’ menu item is about to hit McDonald’s outlets in Japan – chocolate drizzled french fries.

But that’s not all – customers will get a choice of milk and/or white chocolate which can, the company reckons, make a great combo for different, unspecified, occasions.

Why is it the lucky Japanese customers who get to try this first? According to CNN, it could be because sales in Asia have been down ever since McDonald’s was hit by a food-borne illness scandal in China back in 2014.

Predictably, the announcement has been met with a mixed reaction:

This isn’t the first time the fast food chain has trialled some bizarre recipes. In 2015 it introduced the McLobster sandwich at its Canadian stores.

The ‘wonderful salty and sweet harmonious taste’ of the chocolate fries will only be available for a limited time starting on January 26.

But, who knows, if it’s a success maybe it could be hitting a McDonalds near you before too long.
