Police Breakfast Picture ‘Offensive to Vegans’

A social media post by a police force in Wales has upset members of the vegan community.

The post in question comes from the North Wales Rural Crime Team, who posted a rather innocent picture of their breakfast in support of local farmers, as part of the NFU of Wales’s ‘farmhouse breakfast’ campaign.

The tweet in question contained an image – a table showing a number of traditional English breakfasts, which had huge portions of eggs, bacon and sausages, as well as your mandatory beans and toast – it’s never really a ‘Full English’ breakfast without them.

A rather innocuous looking photo right?

Wrong. Always wrong.

Wherever there’s meat, there’s an army of vegans close by, who don’t approve of the meaty, dietary wants and needs of others and they made sure the North Wales Rural Crime Team felt their wrath and indignation.

This time round, rather than an army, it was one person – and I’m not even sure if they’re vegan or not?

If I’m wrong my apologies, but to channel my inner Obi-Wan Kenobi: ‘… what I told you was true, from a certain point of view’.

Yet I digress, the person in question, only know as Diane, took to Twitter to write:

Speaking as a taxpayer I’d prefer them to be less selective when answering questions and perhaps not post breakfast pics that offend vegetarian/vegan followers – pretty thoughtless considering the job title they have.

This obviously triggered meat eaters and farmers, who felt their lives’ were being attacked (or maybe they just felt guilty and they’re still in a constant state of denial), in response to Diane’s post, with a verbal tirade of their own.

Farmer Jono Dixon wrote:

It’s pathetic. The vegans are ruling the roost. They are nothing more than a menace. We as carnivores or vegetarians don’t dictate about there preferred diet so it’s time they stopped trolling and whingeing about everyone’s daily diets.

Leader of the Rural Crime Team, Rob Taylor, said his team wouldn’t be wading in on Dixon or Diane’s Twitter war on food (like Drake said ‘trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers’) because they have more pressing matters to deal with.

Taylor stated:

We regularly get 1m impressions each month and in August alone we had 1.9m impressions.

We just can’t answer (all inquiries) any more as it’s a huge commitment.

Over Christmas we had too much general interaction with people from various walks of life bombarding our feed with questions and we couldn’t cope.

Can’t we all just get along?

The answer is a resounding: No.

Conflict is mankind’s natural state and if we’re not trying to kill each other over our political and religious beliefs, nutrition is seemingly next on the war agenda.
