Get ready Instagram there’s a new multi-coloured food to oggle at.

You might remember how viral the rainbow bagels went a couple of months back? Well, this new rainbow cheese toastie probably won’t be too far behind.

A cafe in Hong Kong is now making their grilled cheese with pink, blue, yellow and green melted cheese and we just don’t know what to think anymore.

It just seems these days no-one gives a shit about their food unless it’s every colour of the fucking rainbow.

The trippy-looking toastie is the work of Kala Toast in Hong Kong and gaining Instagram fame courtesy of hkfoodiexblogger, who has been sharing photos of the ‘unicorn toasties’.

They also provided us with a lovely review, although we kind of wish they didn’t.

Apparently they cost $42 HKD, which is around £3.80, and all the coloured cheeses are individually flavoured.

They explain:

Those coloured cheese are lavender (blue), basil (green), tomato (red) and the yellow one is actually the combination of 4 kinds of cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, emmental and gruyere).

Lavender cheese!? I’ve heard it all now. No, just no, that’s just wrong on so many levels.

The toast was crispy but I reckon both the flavour of the lavender and tomato were subtle. The basil flavour was the most outstanding one comparatively but the cheese flavour still was not as strong as my expectation. It was also a bit oily in general.

Definitely a case of style over substance if I’ve ever seen one. You’ve got to wonder why someone would want to try and improve on something that is already so perfect.
