Tesco Are Selling Giant Jaffa Cake For Just £1

They are a firm biscuit favourite in office staff meetings everywhere, and yet they are so much more than a biscuit.

Despite their usually small and moreish size, the Jaffa Cake undoubtedly has more cake-ish than biscuit-ish qualities IMHO.

The base texture is reminiscent of a good old-fashioned sponge cake; with tell-tale cakey ingredients of eggs, flour and sugar.

If you have yet to be convinced, look at what happens when you let one go stale (although please don’t because this is a devastating thought.) Rather than go soft and gross like a forgotten digestive biscuit, the Jaffa Cake hardens.

Now it appears Team Cake have won a pretty solid victory in the ongoing cake/biscuit battle, all thanks to a scrum-diddly-umptious new product from Tesco.

The supermarket giant is now selling a huge Jaffa Cake, which can be sliced into six delicious pieces. An ideal birthday treat for Jaffa fans on either side of the debate.

Traditionalists will be relieved to know this is a faithful addition to the Jaffa family, with cake base, orange jelly and silky dark chocolate all present and correct.

However, in a genius twist, the 430g whopper also includes a layer of orange cream cheese mouse; which will be refreshing news for those who already love the Jaffa’s zesty tang.

The product description on the Tesco website is already giving me some serious Great British Bake Off feels:

Baked orange filling on a sponge base, topped with orange flavoured cream cheese mousse and flooded with a chocolate flavour topping.

Orange flavoured cream mousse with a rich chocolate topping.

Ooo. And best of all, this delectable delight will only set you back £1, if you order it in your home delivery haul before August 27, 2018.

Otherwise, you can nab one for just £2, which is still pretty good value

However, as is always the case when it comes to Jaffa appreciators, this product has proved to divide people like erm, slices of cake.

Some people cannot wait to get their chops around this glorious monstrosity.

However, others are sceptical, refusing to view this dessert as a true Jaffa:

Okay let’s get one thing VERY clear, Tesco, this is NOT a ‘jaffa cake.’ it is a cake based on jaffa cakes, or a jaffa cake cake, if you will. but do not insult my intelligence by telling me that this THING is a jaffa cake.
