So in the latest bout of one-one-upmanship amongst the UK’s supermarkets, Tesco have now decided to throw their hat into the ring.
Their most outrageous flavour of crisp has just been announced and it’s seriously pissing people off.
Why have something boring like ready salted when you can have your potato crisps flavoured with… elderberry and prosecco. Confused? Yeah, well you’re not the only one. Understandably, the supermarket giant has been heavily mocked on Twitter about their bizarre addition.
Go home, Tesco. You're drunk. pic.twitter.com/zXtNFjUAG8

You’ve got to ask – Who even thought of this? Were R&D getting pissed up on prosecco at a work do? Apparently not, as it seems all the rage. Earlier this year M&S also unveiled their Christmas fizz in crisp form with Winter Berries and Prosecco, apparently sprinkled with pink glitter designed to fizz on your tongue. Wow.
And the pretentiousness doesn’t just stop with the supermarkets.
Gourmet crisp makers Kettle Chips have created meals you can quite happily imagine on a plate in crisp format including: Gressingham Duck with Spring Onion and Plum Sauce and Roasted Lamb with Rosemary and Garlic – grim.
Just when you think it can’t get any bloody worse even our friends from across the pond are taking the piss out of us for our ridiculous combinations because they’re ‘too fancy’. I can’t think why..?
