If you’re a fan of a nice greasy Big Mac after a night out, then we have some good news for you. If not, you have little reason to read on so you might as well go straight to the comment section to moan about how shit the food from McDonald’s is.
The good news for fast food lovers is that the days of queuing for your food will soon come to an end. After successful trials, McDonald’s plans to introduce table service – or McWaiters as they’re known – along with self-service kiosks across 400 restaurants from February next year.
Paul Pomroy, Chief Executive Officer, McDonald’s UK, said:
Innovations like table service where customers place their order via our new digital kiosks and have their food brought to them, are proving incredibly popular and in place in over 350 restaurants across the UK.
As well as this, smartphone charging is to be introduced into more stores. Although I’m not sure even that’s going to get people Instagramming their chicken nuggets and strawberry milkshakes.
There’s also good news for the economy, because the fast food giant also announced plans to create 5,000 new jobs in the UK. This will result in more and more restaurants being open 24 hours a day.
Pomroy added:
As a major UK employer, we have added more than 15,000 people to our workforce during the last five years as a result of our sustained business growth and long-term investment in recruitment and training.
Growth has been driven by investment and innovation in the restaurant experience, new restaurants and extended opening hours – over half of our stores are now open 24/7 throughout the week.
Still no news yet on when we can expect home delivery though.
