The Rock Finally Puts An End To The Pineapple On Pizza Debate

The Rock has had his say on the ‘pineapple on pizza’ debate and the revelation has completely divided fans.

Dwayne Johnson has been a pretty uncontroversial, well-loved celebrity in our lives for some time. He just goes about his day not ruffling any feathers, starring in cheesy action movies and trolling Kevin Hart. You might say he’s our reliable Rock in the celebrity world.

But through the power of social media, some of the WWE legend’s fans have had their do-no-wrong opinion of him suddenly changed – all because of a single Instagram post.

We’re all familiar with the pineapple on pizza ‘debate’. It’s not really a debate of course, because all those people who like pineapple on pizza are wrong, but we can pretend for argument’s sake.

Well, everyone who actually likes pineapple on pizza now has a huge (in both senses of the word) celebrity endorsement, as the Rock has described pineapple on pizza as his ‘JAM’.

Sharing a picture of him picking up a delightfully large slice of pizza to Instagram, the actor explained how he’d been given permission by his coach to load up on carbs.

As my own coach, I give myself that permission every day.

Johnson wrote:

Got the glorious text from my strength & conditioning coach @daverienzi that read “DJ, need a mid week carb up for your big scenes tomorrow. Eat a pizza and send me your pics in the morning” to which I responded – Watch. This.

We’re having fun strategically manipulating my diet/body for shooting HOBBS & SHAW (my Fast & Furious spinoff film) and I love these midweek pizza carb ups like a drunk loves free peanuts.

Personally I think drunks love pizza more than free peanuts, but each to their own.

The Rock went on to point out his controversial choice of Hawaiian pizza, though he did admit he has a habit of combining a strange collection of foods:

As for my pizza toppings – keep in mind, I’m the guy who likes to put tequila and brown sugar in my oatmeal, so pineapple on pizza is MY JAM – with ham.

The pizza caused a rift between fans, with some celebrating the Rock’s love of pineapple pizza while others were appalled at his choice.

One disturbed person commented:

Noooooo…..not pineapple!!

While a more supportive fan wrote:

Whenever someone challenges me with the pineapple on pizza debate I’ll just show them this.

I knew they’d jump on the celebrity endorsement, but I’ll never give in. Pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza!
