Strong advocators for avocados and toast have reason to rejoice thank’s to Marks & Spencer’s introduction of the ‘stoneless avocado’.
In news which has most health-conscious millennials and victims of avocado-related injuries feeling vindicated, M&S have announced they are selling a version of the popular fruit which takes away the enormous and rather dangerous task of cutting out the seed.
Dubbed the ‘Cocktail Avocados’ they are much smaller than the bog-standard stone-seeded variety, which you usually see on the ‘fruit and veg aisle’ at your local supermarket.
Unfortunately, it does share a similarity with its normal counterpart in the fact it’s still overpriced – you’ll have to fork out £2 for a pack – it is Marks & Spencer after all.
Looking more like a gherkin than an actual avocado, these seedless treats are grown in Spain and they’re only available this month due to its short season.
M&S’s agronomist, Charlotte Curtis, said, as reported by the Guardian:
We’ve had the mini, the giant, ready-sliced and we’re now launching the holy grail of avocados: stoneless.
This amazing fruit has been on our radar for a couple of years and we’re very excited to have finally been able to get hold of some for our customers to try.
We know they will be in demand and we’ve only been able to get our hands on a limited amount so make sure you get them while you can.
They’re perfect for snacking and lunchboxes as they can be eaten whole but can also be used for a beautiful garnish or in a salad. My top tip is to try them deep fried.
For all you health conscious ‘advo-cado-cators’ (sorry I couldn’t resist the opportunity for a pun), the cocktail avocado packs are available now – albeit for one month only – from Marks & Spencer.
Now there’ll be no more excuses for avocado-related severed limbs.
