We may have discovered exactly what pure, unadulterated joy looks like – and it has the face of Chewbacca.
One woman’s live stream of herself wearing a ‘talking’ Chewbacca mask has gone super viral to become the most watched Facebook Live video ever.
Candace Payne purchased the joyous Star Wars mask while returning some items to a Kohls department store near Dallas, Texas, reports the Huffington Post.
On returning to her car she could barely contain her excitement, and broadcast the Facebook Live video while still parked outside.
And it’s fair to say the results are outstanding:
The video has now had over 20 million views, smashing the record for most-watched Facebook Live video ever.
Candace told the BBC:
That’s just crazy. I’m just laughing – in all honesty, that is ridiculous. I’ve looked at the number of views and it just seems like someone is just playing with a calculator.
I could see myself in the camera, and I saw this view and I could not stop laughing at how gleeful Chewbacca looked. I thought Chewbacca’s found his joy!
And it seems like a lot of other people ‘found their joy’ too:
May the force of the #chewbaccamask be with you today! #laughmore

I will share and applaud this woman for the rest of time for bringing joy to people in the most pure of ways. #chewbaccamask

The reason #chewbaccamask is so popular is coz although 'the internet' prides itself on self-righteous cynicism, all we really crave is joy.
