It’s Friday, and I know what you want to see more than anything. You want to see 10,000 zombies get shredded up in a blender, right? Don’t lie to me, I can see it in your eyes.

Black Masses is an upcoming first-person open world co-op game from developer Brilliant Game Studio, and the new demo (posted by Reddit user NorthGuidance) shows off the game’s impressive dismemberment tech, and the size of the crowds the game is capable of showing onscreen at once.

But enough from me, take a look at it for yourself below.

While the video below shows 10,000 unfortunate zombies marching to their doom, the developers claim they can feature over 100,000 characters onscreen and still run at 60fps.

They don’t specify what kind of hardware you’d need to be able to have that happen without your computer bursting into flames and melting your face, but I suspect it’d need to be a pretty powerful bit of kit.

There’s been a fair bit of hype around The Black Masses for the PC gamer crowd for a while now. The game is set in an open medieval fantasy, on a 16 square kilometre island that features all your standard fantasy stuff; forests, fields, castles, that kind of thing.

The game is also set to feature multiplayer, so you can slice and dice ye old timey zombies with your mates, if that’s what you’re into. A video showcasing that very feature can be watched just below, though do remember that it’s a pre-alpha build, which is why aspects of it don’t look that polished yet.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that The Black Masses doesn’t have a release date just yet, as it looks like the developers are really still just playing around with the technology to see how much is capable in game world.

If slicing up 10,000 zombies at a time with almost no technical hiccups is any early indication though, I’d say the game is already off to a very promising start.
