GTA San Andreas was released back in October 2004, and basically re-wrote the rule book on what it means to be an open world game. Countless hours have been spent by gamers far and wide hunched in front of their screens, exploring San Andreas, fucking around, and generally having a good time.
It’s over a decade later, and modders are still fiddling with the sandbox classic, finding incredible ways to give it new life. If you were to head over to the GTA forums here, then you’d see all the hard work the fans are putting in to keep this game beautiful.
Take a look at some of the screenshots below, and enjoy the tasty fruit of their labours.
I can’t pretend to understand how they do what they do. Is it magic? Science? Satanic rites in the dead of night? Probably the second one with a hint of the third option, but whatever – the point is that through the efforts of these fans, we have an 11-year-old game that still looks gorgeous.
Believe me when I say there are plenty more images to drool over – each more glorious than the last. I strongly recommend heading over to the forums so you can enjoy a visual buffet.
