One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is being developed by Spike Chunsoft, and will be the first game to star the popular anime hero. Bandai describe it in a press release as a 3v3 action fighting game, where players can build teams using various characters from the show.

Bandai said:

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is an action fighting game set in a universe were threats are daily occurrences and heroes the sole hope against annihilation. Saitama the main protagonist, is a hero that can decimate even the strongest foes with a single punch, a situation that troubles him to no end. The game will feature 3 vs. 3 battles, where players can form powerful teams using many familiar and fan favourite faces.

It’s unclear how many characters will eventually join the roster, but Bandai has confirmed that Saitama (One Punch Man himself), Genos, Fubuki, Mumen Rider, and Sonic represent the first of many playable fighters that are set to join the fray.

Herve Hoerdt, SVP of Marketing, Digital and Content at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, said:

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is not only a great way to jump into the ONE PUNCH MAN universe. Fans of the series can play as some of their favourite characters of the series in exciting 3 vs. 3 battles.

There’s no release date for the game just yet, but what we do have is a lovely trailer, which you can check out for yourself below. It certainly looks the part, but the very premise of a fighting game starring a hero who can take anyone out in one punch is an odd one.

Will Saitama be powered down via convenient plot reasons for the sake of a fair fight, or will you only be able to bring him out at the end of a battle to finish opponents off? I imagine we’ll learn more in the coming months.
