EA has confirmed the 2019 start dates for the closed and private sessions of BioWare’s ambitious open world sci-fi multiplayer romp Anthem.
‘VIP’ players will be able to get their mitts on the game over a three-day period which runs January 25 to 27, before a public demo for the rest of us schmucks, which will kick off February 1 and run until February 3.
Players who participate in the closed demo will get a nifty little in-game item – an exclusive bit of kit which essentially serves as bragging rights on how you were one of the first to play Anthem.
If you fancy becoming a VIP player, you have to pre-order the game, join Origin Access, or join EA Access from the website. Both VIP and public demos will be available to play on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Developer BioWare confirmed every player will start the demo at level 10, and also revealed no save data will carry over to the full release, which arrives on February 22.
The word is, there’s a ton of pressure on BioWare to deliver a critical and commercial hit with Anthem, after 2016’s Mass Effect Andromeda failed to deliver on either count.
What we’ve seen so far of Anthem is pretty promising, so here’s hoping it all comes up Milhouse for them.
