EA has teamed up with Academy Award-nominated director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) to create a genuinely awesome shot film that sets the scene for BioWare’s upcoming online RPG/shooter hybrid Anthem.
Set decades before the game takes place, the short is called Conviction and aims to show players just how dangerous the world of Anthem will be when it launches on February 22.
Check out the short for yourself below:
Blomkamp said in a press release:
I was really blown away by this incredible world BioWare created the very first time I sawAnthem. Convictionsets the stage with a narrative that touches onAnthem’s beautiful and immersive world, which is ripe for exploration by these powerful Javelins. A world where danger is lurking on every ledge and in each valley.
In other Anthem news, it was recently revealed that the game was nearly free to play, but this idea was abandoned in the early stages of development.
In the end, the team at BioWare voted against a free to play model for a number of reasons, including not being able to include DLC packs and making any potential story add-ons an experience you’d have to pay for in order to make a profit.
Anthem will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 22. Hopefully it’s of the same quality as this fantastic piece of work by Blomkamp.
