ARK: Survival Evolved Update Brings New Dinos, Split-Screen, And More

The Xbox One version of ARK: Survival Evolved  has been given a huge update, bringing in split-screen multiplayer, plenty of new items, and more dinosaurs. You can never have too many dinosaurs.

Developer Studio Wildcard announced in a press release that you’ll now be able to enjoy the prehistoric survival game with a friend in split-screen offline or online on non-dedicated servers. Split-screen is in fact a timed exclusive for the Xbox version, after a ton of requests from console gamers.

Two new dinos also join the game. There’s the speedy Gallimimus that can ferry up to three players on its back, and the Dimetrodon that can protect players from extreme temperatures by wrapping them up in a blanket and kissing them gently on the head. Part of that is a lie.

New items include stat enhancing beer (that naturally causes hangovers), an electric prod/stunner type weapon, and SWAT-style Assault Armor. This all comes with the usual enhanced stability and bug fixes one gets with a typical update.

All of this finally brings the Xbox One version up to date with the PC version. ARK: Survival Evolved is currently only available as an early access title, but the full game will release this Summer on Xbox and PlayStation 4.
