Batman Actor Fuels Rumours Of A New Arkham Game

By :

Kevin Conroy, who most people of a certain age will know as the definitive actor to play the role of Batman just dropped a cheeky hint on Twitter that a new Arkham game could well be on the way.

Conroy was the voice of the Dark Knight in the 90’s Batman: The Animated Series, as well as Batman Beyond and the Justice League, and returned alongside Mark Hamill’s Joker for Rocksteady’s sublime Arkham trilogy.

For many of us, the mere presence of Conroy and Hamill in the Arkham games were what made them so special (although I guess the tight gameplay also helped).

Over on Twitter, Conroy retweeted a post from Rocksteady celebrating the four year anniversary of Arkham Knight, the last game in the series. He asked a simple, but very good question; “why stop there?”

Now, there’s a very good chance that this is just Conroy getting all misty-eyed and nostalgic, but the optimist in me wants to believe that Batman himself is teasing a new entry in the Arkham series.

This then begs the question of course, if a new Batman game is coming, will it be from Rocksteady? We have no idea what the studio is currently working on, but it’s been pretty open about the fact that it has no intentions of returning to do another Arkham game.

Of course, the studio also said that the Arkham Knight was a completely original character and that the Joker wouldn’t be in the last game, so we know that it isn’t afraid of lying in order to surprise fans.

The most persistent rumours suggest that  Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros Montreal is currently at work on a Batman game that features the villainous Court of Owls, while Rocksteady is working on a Justice League game, which would presumably feature Conroy’s Caped Crusader.

It’s all rumours right now of course, so take everything with a big pinch of bat salt, but given Rocksteady has been quiet for years now, an announcement has to be on the way soon – I just hope Conroy is involved with whatever is being cooked up, because he is undoubtedly the Batman in my eyes, and the eyes of an entire generation.
