EAIn news that reminds us all that the gaming community can come together in the best ways, Battlefield 1 players decided to commemorate WWI by holding a ceasefire at the 11th hour of Armistice Day.
There have been plenty of moving celebrations, remembrances, and tributes to mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War, and it’s truly lovely (and genuinely remarkable) to see gamers join in with their own small – but no less touching – tribute.
EADICE’s Jan David Hassel shared the moment on Twitter, saying:
This is the 100 Year Anniversary of the End of WW1. On the 11th Hour we stopped fighting. Battlefield 1 players stop shooting each other to commemorate the end of World War 1.
You can also check out a video capturing the moment on Reddit, with plenty of commenters expressing their disbelief that something like this could happen in Battlefield 1. Ignore the idiot in the plane though, they kind of ruin the effort by… you know, not joining in on the ceasefire.
Oh yeah, and there’s the other guy at the end of the clip who decides it’ll be fun to stab the player filming the ceasefire in the back. To be fair, the backstabber later apologised.

To the majority of the players in that game of Battlefield 1 who did join in on the effort: hats off to you for a wonderfully thoughtful tribute, and for commemorating a moment in history in your own small way.
