It’s not much of a secret that DICE’s upcoming WWI shooter Battlefield 1 is a fantastic looking game, but these new images take the cake.
Imgur(er?) Berdu recently got some fantastic screens of the game, and applied a simple grainy black and white filter to incredible effect.
Seriously – at first glance these could easily be legitimate photos of the First World War, which is just terrifyingly realistic.
DICE is aiming to create the grittiest, most visceral Battlefield experience yet, and by all accounts it looks like they’re gonna succeed massively.
Battlefield 1 is shaping up to be an exceedingly pretty FPS, and – provided it learns from the disastrous Battlefield 4 launch – could well be one of best games of the year.
Certainly, if the aim of a videogame is to create an immersive, believable setting, then DICE has already smashed it.
After seeing these incredible screenshots, I’m really hoping DICE will take note and add some kind of grainy black and white filter – that’d be incredible.
Battlefield 1 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 21
