EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has strongly hinted during an earnings call that we can expect to see Star Wars Battlefront 2 early next year.
Polygon reports that Jorgensen said DICE’s sequel will be coming ‘a year from now’, which would imply a Fall 2017 window.
He added that the team is ‘working very hard on making sure that it’s an extremely deep and engaging offering’.
Jorgensen had previously teased that Battlefront 2 will offer ‘bigger and better worlds’ than its predecessor, and will even make use of content from the new films.
Just putting it out there now: If I don’t get to fuck shit up as Maz Katana in Battlefront 2, I will very disappointed indeed.
It’s hardly a shocker that EA is making a sequel to their Star Wars FPS. Despite the fact that many bemoaned the game’s shitty approach to DLC, it still hoovered up money, shipping over 14 million copies and far exceeding the company’s expectations.
Development on Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be taken on by DICE (of Battlefield fame) and fellow EA dev Motive Studios, who were recently founded by Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is far from the only upcoming game set in a galaxy far, far away.
Titanfall 2 dev Respawn is working on a third-person action adventure, while the team behind Dead Space is working with Uncharted director Amy Hennig on a mysterious title.
