Bethesda Confirm More Mobile Games After Success Of Fallout Shelter

Great news for anyone looking for a more substantial mobile gaming experience: After the success of Bethesda’s free to play Fallout Shelter, it seems that the guys behind Skyrim and Fallout 4 are planning to make even more titles for mobile devices.

Bethesda Director Todd Howard confirmed these plans during an interview with GameSpot at the 2016 DICE summit. Thankfully, he went to great lengths to emphasise that Bethesda would only make mobile games if they felt like they made sense, and not for the sake of it – that rules out Elder Scrolls: Candy Crush then (hopefully).

Howard said:

Mostly we were concerned with it being appropriate for who we are [as Bethesda Game Studios]–meaning it’s got a bit more meat on the bone than other things like it. But its overall popularity? We were not ready for that, which is a good problem.

Howard didn’t elaborate any further on Bethesda’s mobile plans, so we don’t know if these mysterious new titles will be based on existing IPs, or whether they’ll focus on something completely new.

In the meantime, Bethesda has confirmed they’re working on three new games, completely different to anything they’ve ever done before. They’ll be holding their second E3 show this June, so here’s hoping the veil is lifted on a few of these projects then.
