Bethesda Speaks Out On Elder Scrolls VI Development

By :

I dunno if you know this, but people are rather fond of The Edler Scrolls V: Skyrim, and would quite like to see a sequel.

Unfortunately, a sixth game in the franchise is not currently in active development, but Bethesda will – of course – be making it at some point.

Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines recently took to Twitter to clear up the confusion around Elder Scrolls VI.

Back in June, Bethesda mentioned that the game wasn’t being worked on ‘at the moment’, leading many to believe the project was in pre-production or at least in some stage of development.

Indeed, there’s a good chance that some work has been done on Elder Scrolls VI, even if it’s the barest of bones right now.

Clearly getting a little tired of telling people about Elder Scrolls VI, Hines recently told MMORPG:

This studio [Bethesda Game Studios] is not a vending machine. They’re not a two-button vending machine, where first we press Elder Scrolls and then we press Fallout, and then we press Elder Scrolls and then we press Fallout… They’re an incredibly talented studio of creative people. They’ve now made four games in a row, all of which were named Game of the Year, and they have a right to decide what they’re interested in working on next and which direction they want to go.

It’s also worth pointing out that Hines said back in June that we shouldn’t expect the game for ‘many years’ – so maybe we should just stop asking, or they might keep pushing it back to hurt us.

Anyone hoping to scratch their Elder Scrolls itch in the meantime can look forward to a current-gen remaster of Skyrim – upgraded graphics, mod support, and all DLC bundled should keep most of us happy for a while.

Skyrim: Special Edition is out October 28 – till then, Bethesda continues to work on a number of unnannouced (but likely awesome) projects.
