The new game from Uppercut Games is the brainchild of three Australian developers who were heavily involved in bringing the world Bioshock.

Submerged will be a combat-free exploration game where you play as a young woman trying to find food and medicine for her sick brother in a flooded city (clever title, that). It looks like it’s going to be comparable to Journey, crossed with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons via Bioshock’s more serene moments. Not a bad mixture at all.

Creative Director Ed Orman wrote on the Playstation blog:

Navigate the flooded city streets by boat, scale the drowned buildings, and use your telescope to scour the city for the supplies needed to save your dying sibling. As you explore the city at your own pace, you encounter the habitat that flourishes in this colourful place and discover hidden objects that piece together the story of a broken world and a broken family.

Having won Best Audio at this year’s Freeplay Festival, the game is going to focus on setting and mood, rather than combat and dialogue. Submerged will release on the 4th of August for PC and Playstation 4 users, and the 7th of August for those with an Xbox One.
