Of all the Nintendo franchises that have the potential to be turned into truly incredible movies, The Legend of Zelda and Metroid stand as the clear winners in the eyes of most gamers.
While the Metroid franchise may be more of a cult hit than the likes of the more mainstream Zelda, Mario, or Pokemon, the gritty, cavernous alien worlds that Samus Aran explores provide the perfect template for a strong, female led sci-fi horror.
Okay so it might end up being a lot like Alien, but have you seen that movie? The world could use a lot more films like Alien.
We shouldn’t hold our breath for such a movie any time soon, but the dream did inch slightly closer to reality recently when actor Brie Larson revealed that she’d love to take on the role of Samus Aran in a potential Metroid flick.
The Captain Marvel star recently dressed up as Nintendo’s intergalactic bounty hunter for Halloween – sans power armour – and she’s absolutely nailed the look, to be honest.
You can check her out in costume via her own Instagram page just below to see for yourself…

Of course, the internet had nothing but good things to say about Larson in her full Samus regalia, prompting the actor to take to Twitter to express her support for being part of a Metroid flick someday.
I hope not. I want to make that movie. https://t.co/6ZneOLu2Wh

Obviously this is miles away from confirmation of a Metroid movie… but Brie Larson as Samus Aran is pretty much all I can think about now, and if it doesn’t happen eventually I will riot.
