Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players will soon be able to relive their youth – classic maps are coming as part of Season One’s free content.

Following the earlier batch of post-release content for the Infinity Ward reboot, with an update quick after release, Modern Warfare’s first major drop will be free for all players across all platforms on December 3.

Moving away from traditional DLC system to a Battle Pass, à la Fortnite and other shooters, developers are calling it ‘the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history’.

If you pay for premium access to the Battle Pass you’ll find out what the 100 tiers of rewards are when the season kicks off – however, everything announced so far is free (that said, you’ll need to earn some of it by playing the game).

The free content includes a bunch of maps including Crash, Vacant and Shipment – all from the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. There’s also Port – a new Ground War-specific map, with massive shipping crates, cranes and buildings to navigate – and two new Gunfight maps, Cargo and Atrium.

There’s also three multiplayer modes (Reinforce, Gunfight OSP, and Infected), two new weapons (the RAM-7 automatic bullpup assault rifle and Holger-26 light machine gun) and new Special Ops experiences, including Bomb Squad, Grounded, Just Reward and Pitch Black.

The new Gunfight mode will see players start with just their fists, forced to gather equipment as the match progresses (OSP stands for on-site procurement).

Infected, also known as Sickness, was introduced as a custom game mode back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. However, it quickly became popular and was added to later games including Call of Duty: GhostsCall of Duty: Advanced WarfareCall of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

In an update at the start of the month, not only were certain key fixes made (such as the nerfing of the infamous 725 shotgun, once used to snipe fools from the other side of the map), but Krovnik Farmland and Shoot House were added alongside Hardpoint, another classic game mode.

The addition of Call of Duty 4 maps seems to confirm the alleged data mines over the past few weeks, with Terminal, Scrapyard and Rust also suspected to make a return.

Give me my 1v1s on Rust. That’s all I want (plus the UMP45). Thanks.
