Blizzard’s Overwatch is getting fully invested in the season of all things spooky with a brand new event called ‘Overwatch Halloween Terror’.
The event will give players a chance to ‘explore the haunted streets of Hollywood’, as well as expand your collection of themed holiday items, and ‘relive a chilling tale in our first-ever PvE brawl: Junkenstein’s Revenge’.
BlizzardThe aforementioned co-op PvE brawl will see players work in teams of four to square off against a horde of zomnics, which are basically zombie robots (don’t ask me how that works).
During the campaign, we’ll also encounter Halloween-themed takes on various playable characters. Highlights include Dr. Junkenstein (Junkrat), Junkenstein’s Monster (Roadhog), the Reaper (Reaper, obviously), and the shady witch (Mercy).
We’ll be able to pick between the Alchemist (Ana), the Archer (Hanzo), the Gunslinger (McCree), or the Soldier (Soldier: 76), to ‘defend Adlersbrunn castle’s doors against Dr. Junkenstein’s onslaught’.
Blizzard said in a press release:
Heroes will need to work together and develop strategies to withstand wave after wave of zomnic attacks. Will you be able to keep your cool when Junkenstein’s Monster appears?
The whole thing sounds pretty robust, and we can even expect 100 new Halloween-themed cosmetic items, each available to unlock through Halloween-specific Loot Boxes, which function the same way as they did in the Summer Games event.
As Blizzard explains:
All in-game Loot Boxes have been replaced with special glowing jack-o’-lanterns, and they’re filled to the brim with over 100 new cosmetic treats. As with our previous events, any Loot Box you earn or purchase from now until the event concludes will contain at least one item from our Halloween 2016 collection–including profile icons, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, skins, and more.
