The affordable new device is marking Commodore’s return to the market and will play all the retro classics.

It’s been around 32 years since gaming royalty the Commodore 64 was released. It apparently also holds the Guinness World Record for the highest single selling computer system of all time. It’s something to tell the grandkids about I suppose.

After a bit of a hiatus, Commodore are set to take the smartphone market by storm with the release of the PET – their own take on mobile gaming – and it looks awesome.

Graphics.

The PET is a re-purposed 5.5 inch Android smartphone running a modified version of Android Lillipop 5.0 that will allow it to play all Commodore and Amiga games. The hardware will be available in two separate models, one with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM and one with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM, marketing at $365 and $300 respectively.

Even if you’re not interested in playing Commodore games at all (if you’re not, then what’s wrong with you?) then the phone as a standalone piece of technology is actually pretty legit.  The 5.5 inch IPS 1920×1080 pixel resolution display is made of Gorilla Glass 3 for all that special butter fingers’ in your life and the dual 13 and 8 mega pixel cameras are more than enough to take a hundred thousand selfies on.
