Operation Wildfire is a new event for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and it brings with it new community-made maps, gun skins, and an updated version of the classic de_nuke map.
Along with your standard visual improvements, the main goal for the update was actually to create more tactical options for the Terrorist side – a worrying ambition anywhere outside the realm of videogames, surely.
The official Counter-Strike website says:
Nuke is one of Counter-Strike’s most iconic and enduring maps. First released in November 1999, the map has undergone numerous aesthetic and functional changes over the years, yet always retained its elegant simplicity. We’re excited to announce the latest evolution of Nuke in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Nuke has also now been added to Competitive Matchmaking playlists as well as “other game modes as part of the Operation Wildfire map group.”
Operation Wildfire also features unlimited free access to seven community maps, and three campaigns: The Gemini Campaign, encourages you to work with a friend to bag the high score. The Wildfire Campaign offers you the chance to play through 30 missions and win sweet, sweet XP.
Finally, Blitz Missions are global events where you can earn bonus XP for specific actions. You’ll have to be Private Rank 3 or above to participate in Competitive Blitz Missions.
If it interests you, there’s a full list of very specific changes to the Nuke map that can be found right here. Take a look, and start putting together your own attack plan.
