Today we have two bits of news regarding the remastered Crash Bandicoot trilogy that’s heading to PlayStation 4 sometime in 2017.
The first is a leaked release date of February 28, 2017. This date first appeared on the site of Finnish retailer VPD.fi, and later emerged on the site of Brazilian retailer Zilliongames.
While this could easily be a placeholder (or subject to delay), February 28 2017 does land on a Tuesday, which is the day most videogames usually release.
The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed the ‘box art’ in the above image, which brings me to my second piece of Crash Bandicoot news: That what you see above is the official cover for the remaster.
Now, I don’t think for a second that it is (because it’s clearly the version of Crash from Skylanders), but what kind of guy would I be if I didn’t at least show you and let you make up your own mind?
I mean, if you do believe that this will be the box art, you’re completely, definitely wrong – but whatever. Reach your own conclusions.
Crash Bandicoot Remastered was unveiled by Sony during E3 2016, and will contain the first three (and best) games in the series.
Unfortunately, original developer Naughty Dog won’t be involved in any way. Development duties will instead be handled by Vicarious Visions – let’s hope they’re up to the task.
