Cyberpunk 2077 Vehicles Are Like The Witcher’s Roach, And Come When You Call

Anyone who’s played through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be all too familiar with Geralt’s trusty steed, Roach. The Witcher’s four-legged friend was never far from his side, and would show up – as if by magic – as soon as Geralt whistled.

Immersion be damned, it was equally awesome and hilarious to see Roach disappear, only to reappear from thin air whenever you called him from across a river or a lake. As it turns out, there’s going to be a similar system in Cyberpunk 2077 – though I don’t expect our futuristic cars will randomly appear on roofs or other inconvenient places.

Cyberpunk 2077 Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko revealed to VG247 that while exploring Night City, you’ll be able to summon your main car, which will drive to your location via its onboard AI. To be clear, you can still own several cars and bikes, but much like Breath of the Wild, your currently active one will be the one that comes to your aid when you call.

Sasko explained:

So basically, because those cars are equipped with AI, if you call it, you can see the car driving towards you. So you can see when it arrives, basically. You can see as your motorcycle arrives, you can see as your car arrives. So you can just leave it wherever you want, it can go somewhere, just call it, and AI makes it like ‘bzzt!’, he drives by and waits for you.

Being able to call our super cool futuristic Knight Rider car to us wherever we are certainly sounds handy, especially given that the world of Cyberpunk 2077 sounds absolutely massive. While CD Projekt RED is reluctant to reveal just how big the world is yet (fair enough, given it’s still in-development), it did reveal that there’ll be at least six districts in Night City, as well as a few sub districts.

As if that wasn’t enough, Night City will also be surrounded by a wasteland-like area known as the Badlands, which will be fully explorable and contain its own quests, characters, and secrets to discover.

In our own E3 chat with CD Projekt RED, we learned that Cyberpunk 2077 will boast some pretty chunky endgame content and offer a ton of replayability. Besides that, the breathtaking Keanu Reeves is in the game as Johnny Silverhand, which isn’t news at this point, but I don’t get tired of mentioning it.
