Daisy Ridley officially won at movies as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it looks like she’s been turning heads in the videogame world too.
It’s been reported that the British actress is being sought after to play Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider film, that will follow the storyline of the recently rebooted games.
Deadline report that initial talks between Ridley’s people and Warner Bros studios – who are set to make the movie – have already been held, but negotiations are still in their early stages. Officially, the talks haven’t even happened.
While no other actresses are mentioned as being considered for the role as Lara, Ridley seems like an absolute no-brainer. I mean seriously, she’s an astounding actress and bears more than a passing resemblance to the gaming heroin.
She’s also, y’know, British. Which would be a novelty. Angelina.
While the movie has no release date or details, director Roar Uthaug recently spoke about what fans can expect.
He said:
I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well. I think we’ll want to make people relate to Lara as a character. I’m hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise.
Seriously hoping this one turns out to be more than just a rumour.
