Mock the Week’s Dara O Briain is all set to host a brand new videogame TV game show on Dave.
Of course, if you’re not from the UK, I can’t imagine much of that sentence made any sense at all to you. Still, if you’re interested, let me tell you all about Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit, and the celebrities that’ll be joining him throughout the series.
O Briain will host two teams of rival celebs who’ll do battle across various classic videogames. It’ll be like watching your mates play, except most of these people are funny for a living and don’t just think they are.
These celeb teams will be made up of some truly excellent UK comedians, including Bob Mortimer, Russell Howard, Ed Byrne, Josie Long and Holly Walsh.
You can also expect to see Rachel Riley, David James, Jason Manford, Dave Gorman, Marcus Brigstocke, and Gina Yashere, in addition to Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilion, who will be serving as team captains.
Think Mock the Week with more videogames and less Frankie Boyle. Okay, that doesn’t sound as good as it did in my head, but I have every confidence Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit will be good fun.
Between this and the return of Time Commanders on the BBC, it seems videogame related TV shows are seeing a strange resurgence on British screens.
You can check out the first one of a six episode series of Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit on September 5.
