Dark Souls Board Game Funded In Ridiculous Time

By :

Turns out people really wanna play a Dark Souls board game. At least, that’s what I gather from the fact that Steamforged Games’ Kickstarter project reached its goal in three minutes.

At the time of writing, Dark Souls -The Board Game currently sits at £444, 990, which is quite a bit over its goal of £50,000. There are currently 26 days of funding goodness left, so lord knows how much this is gonna end up making.

The project is being made in partnership with Dark Souls publisher Bandai Namco, and is billed as a strategically challenging, deeply immersive combat exploration game for 1-4 players.

The game’s official description reads:

Players choose from a number of core character classes and explore dangerous locations full of monsters, treasures, and deadly boss fights. Designed specifically for the Dark Souls universe and introducing a number of innovative gameplay mechanics, with world-class miniatures faithful to the rich universe, this game delivers an experience that captures the very essence of the original video games.

If you wanna bag yourself a copy, all you need to do is pledge £75 on the Kickstarter page. As you might imagine, Steamforged are “over the moon” with how successful the funding has been so far.

Given the almost embarrassing level of success the board game has experienced so far, a few more items have been added to core Kickstarter pledges. This includes five new player characters, new legendary weapon cards, new Lothric encounters, and a mega-Boss add-on, which sounds intriguing.

Funding ends on May 16, by which time they’ll probably have made enough to ship game boards made from solid gold.
