Good news everyone: It looks like the original Dark Souls is coming to Xbox One as part of the backwards compatibility program, and you’ll get it for free with digital pre-orders of Dark Souls 3.
Thanks to a premature Australian Xbox Marketplace listing, Kotaku managed to nab a screenshot that tells us the juicy details.
The page reads:
For a limited time, purchase a digital pre-order of Dark Souls 3 on the Xbox Store and get the original Dark Souls playable on Xbox One. The code for Dark Souls will be delivered to your Xbox message center within 7-10 days.
Neither Bandai Namco or Microsoft have commented on Dark Souls as a pre-order treat or backwards compatible game yet. The listing has since been removed though – which pretty much always confirms that someone fucked up and jumped the gun.
Dark Souls 3 releases March 24 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so we’ll find out one way or another soon enough.
