Sony is celebrating the release of upcoming PS4 exclusive Days Gone by making a handsome (and free) dynamic theme and avatar pack based on the post-apocalyptic survival adventure available.
At present, the new theme can only be redeemed by those with PSN accounts in the US and Canada, which is kind of a bummer for those of us outside of these territories. It really is a pretty slick theme, after all.
The theme itself (which you can see above) shows off the horrendously-named Days Gone star Deacon St. John on the run from what looks like an especially angry mutant wolf. Deacon is making his escape on a motorbike, so unless the wolf pack have a Ford Focus stashed somewhere out of shot, I reckon he’ll probably make it out of this scrape in one piece.
This frozen moment in time is packed with some other lovely touches. The icons on the home screen look like the kind of badges you’d stitch onto a biker jacket, and the blur effect gives the impression of a high speed, high thrills chase sequence, while dirt kicks up beneath Deacon’s back wheel.
You can check out a video of the theme in action (courtesy of YouTuber RenkaWong) below.
Days Gone lands exclusively on PlayStation 4 on 26 April, following a couple of delays to allow extra time to polish the game. Let’s hope that developer Sony Bend made the most of these extensions and that Days Gone can continue the PS4’s incredible run of exclusive games.
I mean, who could forget the devastatingly impressive one-two punch of God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man. I’d hate to have to follow that.
