Publishers Activision have announced that Destiny: The Taken King has smashed day-one download records for the Playstation 4 following the sequel’s ridiculously hyped release.
Sounds pretty impressive doesn’t it? Well, take this one with a pinch of salt as it’s come from the game’s own publisher, who have given no tangible evidence of numbers. Kind of like your mate telling you how sick his new car is, but then never actually showing you. It’s probably just a Fiat Panda with homemade neons.
Activision have also kept quiet on its sales figures for Xbox One, so it’s safe to assume it hasn’t performed as well on Micrsoft’s console.
Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg released a statement saying:
Destiny: The Taken King is officially the most downloaded game on day-one in PlayStation history and set a new benchmark for both total Destiny players and peak online concurrency on day-one, so it’s safe to say the Destiny franchise continues to gain momentum.
After a mixed reaction to the original Destiny last year, The Taken King has apparently fixed many of fan’s gripes and turned out a pretty decent showing.
Destiny: The Taken King is out now on Playstation 4, Xbox One and, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
