Bandai Namco shared the first trailer for its upcoming Dragon Ball Z action RPG during the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals, and it’s looking pretty darn tasty.
The trailer, which you can check out below, doesn’t give away much (if anything) in terms of gameplay, unfortunately. We are however treated to some gorgeous recreations of scenes from the original series that imply the new game will be adapting the show, rather than telling a brand new story.
Dragon Ball Game – Project Z, as the RPG is currently known, will see players “discover the story of the mysterious Dragon Balls,” and “join Goku and fellow warriors in the neverending search for the ultimate fight.”
The trailer showcases a number of familiar moments and locations from the beloved anime, including Goku’s transformation into a Super Saiyan to take on Frieza, Capsule Corp. and the Kame House.
It sounds as if the game’s main hero will be Goku himself, as the trailer’s narrator says:
True warriors are in a neverending search for the ultimate fight. This is the story of the mysterious Dragon Balls. A story about determination, despair, and hope. This is the story of Goku, the one they call Kakarot.
There’s still no set release date for this one, but Bandai have previously said it’ll be coming in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Hopefully we’ll see some actual gameplay soon, because I’m hankering for a quality Dragon Ball RPG.
