So many things sound more inviting in Virtual Reality, and high speed racing games are definitely among them.
Great times then, since it seems that the PlayStation 4 racing game Driveclub is getting a special Virtual Reality edition for Sony’s PlayStation VR headset.
IGN spotted a listing from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) which suggests that an official reveal may be on the cards soon.
Driveclub developer Evolution Studios actually closed down last month, though Sony announced they’d directly take over development of the game.
It makes sense that they’d be pushing for a VR edition – they’re gonna want to make the PlayStation VR as big a draw as they possibly can to compete with the Rift and Vive, after all.
A certain few of you might also remember that Sony showcased a prototype version of Driveclub VR back in October 2015. Pretty much everyone who saw it thought it was damn impressive, so I’d hope Sony have been hard at work improving the experience.
Driveclub director Paul Rustchynsky said at the time:
At the moment it’s just a prototype. We don’t know what we’re going to do with that just yet. If it gets good reception [here at Paris Games Week] which I think it will–I think that could turn into something more than just a tech demo.
It’s currently not known whether this potential VR Driveclub will serve as a standalone game or a patch for existing Driveclub owners.
Rustchynsky recently told a fan on Twitter to wait until E3 2016 for answers, so I guess we’ll know more come that glorious June weekend.
