One of the most iconic RPG’s in video gaming history has been given a facelift, as Final Fantasy VII finally realises its potential as a side scrolling beat-’em-up.
If you’ve been waiting patiently for the actual Final Fantasy VII remake, then Final Fantasy VII: Re-Imagined by Singapore-based developer PD Design Studio should be enough to tide you over until it arrives.
The game is a completely illegitimate knock off of the famous title and stars Cloud and Tifa beating seven shades of shit out of rent-a-goons to the steampunk backdrop of Midgar. The game is a not-for-profit project already avaialble as a playable demo on the developer’s website, where you can play one-player or via local co-op.
Square Enix have yet to comment on the project and it remains to be seen if they’ll actually let PD Design Studios continue. Check out the trailer for the game below.
The developer notes on its website that the project will probably never be more than the one level demo, but that it does have plans to produce more games like this in the future. MGS beat-’em-up anyone?
