Fan Remake Of PT In Unreal Engine With VR Support Now Fully Playable

By :

Konami’s cancellation of Kojima’s Silent Hills game and the company’s subsequent removal of the incredible PT demo is sure to live on in infamy for years – if not decades – to come.

The “Playable Teaser” Kojima released on PS4 to tease the Silent Hill game he was working on with Guillermo Del Toro sparked a new era of first person horror games, which is honestly incredible to say it was only ever intended as a demo for what was to come.

Radius Gordello

The real kicker of course, is that after Silent Hills was cancelled, Konami unceremoniously erased PT from the PlayStation store. The demo is no longer available to re-download, even if it’s already in your library, making it near-impossible for many of us to enjoy a critical piece of modern gaming history.

The good news is that plenty of fans have stood against and worked to make PT available for everyone in other ways, which often means rebuilding the entire demo from scratch. An incredible feat, I’m sure you’d agree.

There was recently a spirited attempt from Artur Łączkowski that rebuilt a good chunk of the game, but now there’s Unreal PT, which has lovingly remade the entire game in Unreal Engine, complete with VR support.

Check out the trailer below:

Radius Gordello has been working on Unreal PT for 10 months. He says the project was in “constant development” between April 2018 and January 2019, and now the whole thing is here.

Textures, models, animations, gameplay, and code were all recreated from scratch, and you can expect “near identical” gameplay to the original, which is absolutely insane.

For most people, simply remaking PT in full would have been enough, but Gordello decided to take it even further and make it so that you can beat the entire thing in VR if you’re brave enough (which I am absolutely not).

Konami

To download the game for yourself, just head here. Hopefully Konami leaves this be, but there’s every chance they’ll decide to shut it down, so be quick.
